Privacy tools that keep your files on your device.
What we do
PrivacyBench is a collection of free privacy tools: a photo metadata remover, a file metadata viewer, a password generator and a password strength checker. We built it because many online privacy tools ask you to upload your files or type your passwords into a server, which is the opposite of what privacy needs.
Privacy by design
Every tool runs in your browser. The images you choose and the passwords you type or generate are processed on your device by JavaScript on the page, and the tool code does not upload them to our servers. Read our Privacy Policy for details about cookies and advertising.
How the site is funded
The site is free to use. It currently shows no advertising. If we add ads in future they will be clearly labelled, kept away from input fields, and described in the Privacy Policy first.
Limits you should know about
Removing metadata does not remove what a picture shows, and password strength scores are estimates based on small built-in lists. Please treat results as guidance and not as a guarantee of privacy or security. If you spot an error or have a suggestion, get in touch.
